Three Locations, One Festival
The Dreiklangfest is the central event of Hamm800 – the 800th anniversary of the Westphalian city of Hamm. What makes it unique: Instead of a single festival mile, three industrial sites open their doors simultaneously, each on one of the three festival days – an overarching staging of industrial history, current production, and future technologies.
Dates and Locations 2026
From Friday, May 1st to Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, the three “sounds” of the festival will take place:
- CreativRevier Heinrich Robert – the former Heinrich Robert coal mine in Hamm-Pelkum, now a cultural and creative hub. Program focusing on mining history, industrial culture, art performances in the historic winding towers, and historic works railways.
- Westfälische Drahtindustrie (WDI) – one of the world's leading wire manufacturers, headquartered in Hamm. Factory tours, machinery demonstrations, wire art installations, employee meet-and-greets.
- RWE Kraftwerk Westfalen – hard coal power plant in Hamm-Uentrop, with planned conversions towards hydrogen/energy carriers. Tours of the power plant technology, exhibition on energy transformation.
The exact date per location will be communicated by the City of Hamm and the respective operators. Amprion (transmission system operator) will also be present with its own presentation on Corridor B.
Tradition Meets Future
The motto “Tradition meets Future” perfectly captures the festival: For decades, Hamm was a significant industrial location in the eastern Ruhr area – the Heinrich Robert mine was one of Europe's largest. Today, the city is in transition: energy transition, hydrogen concepts, new industries. The festival showcases both sides without nostalgic idealization or future-oriented pathos.
Accompanying Program
In addition to site visits, there will be lectures, art installations, industrial culture concerts (miners' choirs, WDI works choir, young electronic music), and a family program with interactive stations. Local clubs, schools, and initiatives support the festival, especially in educational outreach for the next generation.
Hamm800 – The Anniversary Year
Hamm was founded in 1226 by Adolf I of the County of Mark – 2026 marks the 800th anniversary of the city's founding. The anniversary year includes numerous events; the Dreiklangfest is one of the cultural highlights.
