About Rathaus-Treff
Rathaus-Treff — edition 2026
Summer Wednesdays in the Remstal Wine Village
From May 6 to August 19, 2026, the weekly Rathaus-Treff Strümpfelbach takes place. Every Wednesday from 5 to 9 PM, the forecourt of the historic town hall transforms into a small, cozy wine service area. Eight Strümpfelbach wineries — Mödinger, Schweikart, Weinfreunde Strümpfelbach, Wilhelm, Kuhnle, Knauß, Idler, Mannschreck — alternate week by week and present their wines directly in the village center.
The format is a classic Swabian Hocketse: standing service outdoors (under a canopy), small snacks with wine, conversations among guests and vintners. In bad weather, the service continues as usual, with the town hall's canopy providing shelter. It's a summer routine that shapes Strümpfelbach's village life and also attracts visitors from Stuttgart, Esslingen, and the entire Remstal region.

Wednesday Ritual with Remstal Wine
Every Wednesday from early May to mid-August, the forecourt of the historic Strümpfelbach town hall transforms into a small, cozy meeting place for wine lovers. From 5 to 9 PM, wine is served under the town hall's canopy — by one of the eight Strümpfelbach wineries, which alternate weekly. A summer tradition that has been successful for years and has retained a loyal regular clientele over the nearly 15 weeks of the season.
Eight Wineries — Eight Weekends
The participating wineries — Mödinger, Schweikart, Weinfreunde Strümpfelbach, Wilhelm, Kuhnle, Knauß, Idler, and Mannschreck — are all located in Strümpfelbach or the immediate vicinity and represent the spectrum of Württemberg viticulture. Trollinger, Lemberger, Riesling, Kerner, Müller-Thurgau, and Spätburgunder are the typical grape varieties served. Each winery brings its own style — from traditional Trollinger in a Bocksbeutel to modern cuvées and experimental varietal wines.
Strümpfelbach — A Wine Village in Weinstadt
Strümpfelbach is one of the five districts of the town of Weinstadt in the Remstal valley — alongside Beutelsbach, Endersbach, Großheppach, and Schnait. With around 1,600 inhabitants, Strümpfelbach is the smallest, but also one of the most viticulturally interesting of the five villages. The vineyards around the village belong to the Württemberg wine region, Remstal-Stuttgart area, and are accessible via small paths through the vineyards. The location is typical for the Remstal: south-west facing slopes, calcareous soils, mild climate.
Format: Swabian Hocketse with Standing Service
The Rathaus-Treff is formatted as a classic Swabian Hocketse: standing service outdoors, small snacks with wine (cheese and sausage platter, lard bread, ham bread), conversations among guests, encounters between vintners and buyers. Unlike wine tastings, the focus is not primarily on sales or didactic tasting, but on a relaxed Wednesday evening routine. In bad weather, the town hall's canopy offers protection — the service is only very rarely canceled.
Weinstadt — Württemberg's Wine Capital in Miniature
Weinstadt, a medium-sized town with around 26,000 inhabitants in the Rems-Murr district, is one of Württemberg's wine strongholds. The municipality of Weinstadt was formed in 1975 from the five districts — all wine villages with their own traditions. Today, Weinstadt is home to several renowned wineries and hosts various wine events — from the Rathaus-Treff in Strümpfelbach to the large wine festival in Endersbach and enjoyment series like the "Stettener Weinwoche". The combination of tourism, viticulture, and club life shapes the town.
