Tip
Combine the Rainbow Street Food Festival with a walk through Schaafenstraße — the gay district with Café Schmitz, the queer bookstore, and several bars is open all weekend. Bring small bills, street food is often cash-only. It can get humid in Cologne in June — wear light clothing.
Street Food and Pride at Cologne's Rudolfplatz
The Rainbow Street Food Festival takes place from June 11th to 14th, 2026 at Rudolfplatz in Cologne's city center — right in front of the historic Hahnentorburg and in the heart of Cologne's queer Veedel (district). The festival combines international street food culture with the Rainbow atmosphere: colorful flags, queer-friendly stalls, a meeting point for Cologne's LGBTQ+ community. Four days of enjoyment, community, and Kölsch summer vibes. Free admission.
International Food Trucks from All Over the World
The exhibitor concept focuses on international diversity: Food trucks offering Asian, Mediterranean, Latin American, African, and German cuisine — from Korean BBQ to Mexican Tacos and Lebanese Mezze, to Italian Arancini and Kölsch Halven Hahn. Vegan and gluten-free options are, of course, part of the festival's spectrum, in line with its queer-friendly ethos.
Daily Changing Stage
The stage in the center of the square will feature different acts daily — DJ sets, drag performances, acoustic concerts, Pride speeches, and interactive activities. The atmosphere is relaxed, familial, and international — Cologne's hospitality meets the district's Pride identity.
Rudolfplatz — Cologne's Queer Heart
Rudolfplatz is located directly on Cologne's medieval city wall, crowned by the Hahnentorburg (one of the four surviving Cologne city gates). The surrounding district between Schaafenstraße, Aachener Straße, and Hohenzollernring has been the city's queer Veedel for decades — with the most gay bars, clubs, and cafés in Germany. During the CSD weekend in July, this is the focal point of ColognePride. The Rainbow Street Food Festival in June is considered a cozy pre-event.
Cologne as Germany's Pride Capital
Cologne, with its annual ColognePride and the CSD street festival around Heumarkt, is one of the most important LGBTQ+ meeting points in Europe. ColognePride attracts around 1.4 million people each year — the Rainbow Street Food Festival is one of many side events that prepare the queer community for the main weekend. Cologne in the Rhineland (state of North Rhine-Westphalia) is Germany's fourth-largest city, and the Kölsch way of life — combined with the Rhenish spirit of tolerance — makes the city Germany's Pride capital.
