Colourful summer revue on Sassnitz's spa square with laser show and fireworks
The Sassnitz Promenaden-Revue is one of the most popular summer events on the Baltic Sea island of Rügen. The venue is the spa square with its distinctive Kurmuschel (spa shell) – a shell-shaped pavilion from the early days of the Baltic Sea resort, which now serves as a stage. Behind the stage, nothing but the Baltic Sea and the last light of day: a setting that has made the event a firm summer highlight over the years.
The revue's programme is deliberately broad: it is aimed at all generations and mixes music, dance, comedy, and show acts. The performances start in the early evening, so families with children can also experience the beginning. As darkness falls, the mood shifts to the nocturnal highlights: laser show and fireworks over the water, which conclude the event evening.
Numerous snack and drink stands are set up around the spa square during the revue. The restaurants and cafés on the beach promenade take advantage of the evening with extended opening hours – a culinary tour from fish rolls to regional specialities to cocktails by the water is a must for many regular guests. The event is free to enter and thus a classic Volksfest (public festival) with a high frequency of locals and holidaymakers.
Sassnitz looks back on over a hundred years of spa tradition. The town is located in the Vorpommern-Rügen district in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and is the gateway to the UNESCO World Natural Heritage National Park Jasmund. The spa square on the beach promenade is part of the historic spa architecture; the Kurmuschel is one of the town's landmarks. Events like the Promenaden-Revue liven up this public space, combining local tradition with contemporary entertainment.
The event begins on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 7:00 PM on the spa square on the beach promenade. The stage is the historic spa shell directly on the water. The programme includes a diverse cultural offering for young and old – the town of Sassnitz traditionally presents a mix of music, dance, show acts, and comedy.
As darkness falls, a laser show and fireworks over the Baltic Sea follow – the visual highlight of the evening, visible from the spa square and the entire beach promenade.
Snack and drink stands around the spa square, plus restaurants, bars, and cafés on the beach promenade with extended opening hours.
The detailed artist list will be communicated shortly before the event by the town of Sassnitz and the Tourist Service.
Free admission. Snacks and drinks on site for a fee. Restaurants and cafés on the beach promenade use the event for extended opening hours.
By train: ICE/IC to Stralsund Hbf, then regional train RE9 to Sassnitz Hbf, from there a 15-minute walk to the spa square on the beach promenade. By car: B96 via Rügendamm to Sassnitz, parking available on the beach promenade and at the city harbour. It can get crowded during high season – arrive early.
The Promenaden-Revue is free to enter. Snacks and drinks on site are subject to a charge.
Bring a blanket and a warm jacket – it can get chilly by the water after sunset, even in midsummer. For the best view of the fireworks, a spot at the railing of the beach promenade is recommended.
