Ost-See-Sternchen – Rügen Children's and Youth Talent Competition

A Stage for Young Talents

The Ost-See-Sternchen is a talent competition where children and young people from the island of Rügen can demonstrate their skills to an audience. All young talents aged 7 to 27 are welcome to participate – from schoolchildren to young adults. The competition is organized by the City of Sassnitz and takes place on the Kurplatz.

Diverse Competition Categories

The Ost-See-Sternchen is intentionally broad in scope: participants showcase their diverse talents in categories such as singing (with and without accompaniment), bands, acrobatics, and instrumental solos. This variety makes the competition exciting and gives young people with very different talents the chance to present themselves on stage.

Fostering Young Talent on Rügen

The talent competition contributes to the promotion of young cultural talent in the region. For many young participants, the Ost-See-Sternchen is their first performance in front of a larger audience – an experience that builds confidence and makes talents visible. The winners also perform at other city events, including the Rügen Harbour Days.

Sassnitz and the Kurplatz

Sassnitz is located in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The Kurplatz on the promenade, with its historic bandstand, serves as an open-air stage. The Ost-See-Sternchen is part of the harbour town's event calendar, combining a summer afternoon with family entertainment and the recognition of young talents.
