International Beer Specialties in the Historic Hellweg City
The ProBierBar Soest is not a classic beer festival with Bavarian costume clichés, but a curated tasting festival: International beer specialties — from Belgian Trappist beers to Czech Pilsners, German craft varieties, and breweries from the neighboring Sauerland region — are served at various bars and stands. The 7th edition in 2026 runs from September 24th to 26th in Soest's city center.
The concept focuses on small quantities, great variety: With a water refill system or tasting glasses, you can try several varieties in one evening, comparing hop profiles, malt focuses, and aroma worlds. Brewers and brewery representatives are often present and talk about their beers — a small beer academy in the open air.
Unlike festivals held on a fairground, the ProBierBar uses the Soest city center itself as the event space. The stands are spread across several squares and alleys, allowing you to explore the historic city while tasting — the half-timbered houses, the St. Patroclus Church, the medieval city walls.
Soest is the historic capital of the Hellweg region in North Rhine-Westphalia, in the Soest district. The city has a history of over 1,200 years as a Hanseatic city, a completely preserved medieval cityscape, and is known as the "City of a Thousand Windows." With the ProBierBar, the city is embracing a contemporary culinary event that has proven itself alongside the traditional Allerheiligenkirmes (early November) and the Soest City Festival.
In the 2026 festival calendar, the ProBierBar is scheduled between the medieval Gaudium and the huge Allerheiligenkirmes. Those who want to explore the Soest late summer and autumn culinarily can combine the ProBierBar with other Soest events.
The 2026 edition — the 7th — continues the established line of the ProBierBar: focus on tasting international beer specialties, curated brewery offerings, spread across several squares in the historic city center.
Note: The complete list of participants and varieties for 2026 will be communicated before the festival via the City of Soest and Hellweg Radio.

Come hungry and with good shoes — the city center has cobblestones. Plan for a tasting evening rather than a drinking evening — variety is the concept, not quantity.
