City festival with beach atmosphere, music, and boccia tournament — mid-June 2026
The Stadtfest Georgsmarienhütte is a relatively young festival, first conceived as a city festival in 2024. The special feature: the city center is transformed into a late spring beach atmosphere with sand, loungers, palm trees, and a beach bar — a concept that is popular with families and young people alike.
The 2026 edition is planned for mid-June 2026. In 2025, the festival ran from June 13th to 15th — a comparable date is expected for 2026, with official confirmation to follow from the city marketing department.
The program includes live concerts with regional bands on the central stage, the traditional Volksbank Open boccia tournament in the city center with participating teams from clubs, companies, and friend groups. This adds a sporting element to the festival — without losing its convivial character.
The Fairy Tale Mile is an staged route through the city festival with fairy tale characters, stations, hands-on activities, and costume spots for children. In addition, there is an extensive children's program with activities that make the festival an explicit family event.
Georgsmarienhütte is known as an industrial city with a steelworks tradition. With the newly conceived city festival, the Kasinoparkfest, the Hüttenmarkt, and the drive-in cinema, the city is positioning itself as a vibrant cultural hub. The Stadtfest symbolically represents a new beginning — a modern identity formation beyond its pure industrial history.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in spring. The structure will follow the proven key points from previous years:
