One of Germany's largest dance festivals — May 26 to June 7, 2026 at fabrik Potsdam and other venues
With 5,000 to 8,000 visitors annually, the Potsdamer Tanztage are among the largest festivals for contemporary dance in Germany. They have been organized by fabrik Potsdam in Schiffbauergasse 10 — Brandenburg's international center for contemporary dance — since 1991. From May 26 to June 7, 2026, experience 14 days of festival with 13 international productions, 8 German premieres, 36 workshops, 7 concerts, and 2 films.
The opening premiere will be presented by Brussels-based Italian choreographer Erika Zueneli with her piece "Le Margherite" (Daisies) — a reflection on chance, community, and transience. The work celebrates its German premiere at the Tanztage.
The program brings choreographers from Montreal, Tel Aviv, Stockholm, Milan, and Berlin to Potsdam. The spectrum ranges from contemporary dance to acrobatics to pieces for young audiences. International partner institutions include the Institut français and cultural organizations from Québec — indications of the festival curation's Francophone focus.
The Tanztage combine performances with the most extensive workshop offering of any German dance festival: 36 courses for all levels, from beginners to professionals, teach various dance techniques, improvisation methods, and physical practices. This is complemented by artist talks, audience discussions, concerts, and film screenings.
The main venue is fabrik Potsdam in Schiffbauergasse 10, supplemented by the neighboring Hans Otto Theater and other venues in the city. Schiffbauergasse itself is a cultural area directly on Tiefen See — in addition to fabrik and theater, you'll find galleries, the Waschhaus, the T-Werk, and restaurants here.
The Festival Pass for €90 (concession €45) allows access to up to 12 performances — one of the most attractive festival rates in Germany. Single tickets are available through the Berlin.de ticket system and the festival office.
