A Rock Festival with Conviction

The Columbiahalle at Columbiadamm 13-21 in Berlin's Tempelhof-Schöneberg district (Tempelhof locality, near Kreuzberg) is one of Berlin's most traditional concert venues — built in 1951 as a Ufa cinema, later becoming a home base for rock and metal concerts. It is precisely here that the Berlin-based association PladeLu-Festival e.V. organizes its festival of the same name with an unusual concept: Authentic, Loud, and Live with Conviction.

How the Festival Works

The PladeLu-Festival is a Charity Rock Festival:

• Bands play without fees — from headliners to newcomers
• Organizer forgoes profit
• Revenue above costs goes entirely to non-profit organizations — e.g., Kinderhospiz Sonnenhof, Vita Assistenzhunde e.V., and other social projects
• One stage: Headliners and newcomers perform on equal footing
• Music genres: Rock, Metal, NDH (Neue Deutsche Härte)

The Festival with Conviction

The association explicitly takes a political stance: „We stand against discrimination, xenophobia, antisemitism, racism, violence, and hatred". In doing so, the festival aligns with the traditional anti-fascist stance of large parts of the German punk and rock scene and clearly positions itself against attempts at far-right appropriation, which are a recurring theme internationally in the rock and metal world.

The 6th Edition

Headliner for 2026 is OOMPH! — pioneers of the Neue Deutsche Härte (NDH) genre, whose followers include bands like Rammstein. Further acts:

• LORENA (Heart Rock & Metal)
• My Inner Circle (Symphonic/Melodic Metal)

Columbiahalle — Berlin Rock Tradition

The Columbiahalle is one of Berlin's sought-after concert venues — good visibility from all spots, excellent acoustics, historic flair. Iron Maiden, Volbeat, In Flames, Megadeth, Ramones have played here. For a charity festival, the hall with its approximately 3,500 standing places is an ideal size.
