30 Years of Pentecost Festival in Großbreitenbach

The Pentecost Festival of FSV Großbreitenbach celebrates its 30th edition in 2026. Three decades of tradition make the festival a fixed date in the club and village calendar of the town in the Ilm district. FSV Großbreitenbach, the most important sports club in the town, has been the organizer since the beginning.

Großbreitenbach – Thuringian Slate Mountains

Großbreitenbach is located in the southern Ilm district in the Thuringian Slate Mountains, at an altitude of around 700 meters. The town is surrounded by forests and is one of the quiet Mittelgebirge (mid-mountain) resorts in southern Thuringia. Pentecost weekend brings life to the sports field every year – the people of Großbreitenbach come together, along with guests from the neighboring villages of Wildenspring, Allersdorf, Friedersdorf, Willmersdorf.

Highlight 2026: Match against RWE Traditional Team

The sporting highlight of the 2026 festival is the match of the FSV team against the traditional team of Rot-Weiß Erfurt (RWE) on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026, at 5:30 PM. The RWE traditional team consists of former professional players of the Erfurt club and regularly visits club festivals throughout Thuringia – a special occasion for the people of Großbreitenbach.

Pentecost weekend is traditionally a time for club festivals in Thuringia. Sport, dance, marquee, and community characterize the three days. With its 30th Pentecost Festival in 2026, FSV Großbreitenbach continues this tradition.
