42 Editions of Berlin Running Tradition
The Pankower Frühlingslauf was founded in 1985 as a small district race — today, in its 42nd edition in 2026, it is one of Berlin's most traditional fun runs. The organizer is KSV 90 (Kissinger Sportverein 90), and the namesake and main sponsor is GESOBAU AG. The venue is the Paul-Zobel-Sportplatz at Hermann-Hesse-Straße 80 in Niederschönhausen — right by the green Schönholzer Heide, one of Berlin's most beautiful city forests.
Four Distances for Every Generation
The program offers four distances: 12.5 km for ambitious runners, 5 km for most hobby athletes, 2.5 km for schoolchildren and beginners, and 1.2 km for the little ones. The routes lead through Schönholzer Heide, a 35-hectare mixed forest with excellently maintained paths — no elevation gain, no tripping hazards, ideal for personal bests or a first competition.

In the Berlin Runner's Cup
The Pankower Frühlingslauf is part of the Berliner Läufercup organized by the Berlin Athletics Association — a series of fun runs held throughout the year and combined in an overall ranking. For many Berlin runners, the Spring Run serves as a dress rehearsal for the Berlin Half Marathon in early April and for the SCC Berlin Marathon events (Vivawest Half Marathon, Berlin Marathon).
Pankower Spring Run — edition 2026
On Saturday, March 28, 2026, the 42nd Pankower GESOBAU Spring Run will start at the Paul-Zobel-Sportplatz in Niederschönhausen. Four distances will be offered: 12.5 km for ambitious runners, 5 km for most hobby athletes, 2.5 km for schoolchildren and beginners, and 1.2 km for the youngest. The routes lead from the sports complex through Schönholzer Heide — a 35-hectare mixed forest with well-maintained paths and no significant elevation gain. Registration via laufauswertung.com; the run is part of the Berlin Runner's Cup and a dress rehearsal for the Berlin Half Marathon in early April.

The complete schedule and start times for 2026 will be published on leichtathletik-berlin.de and on hdsports.org/laufen/pankower-fruehlingslauf in the weeks leading up to the event. Expected schedule:
Morning — Children's and Youth Races
- 09:00 — Entry, start and finish area at Paul-Zobel-Sportplatz
- 09:30 — 1.2 km Bambini Run (Children up to 8 years old)
- 10:00 — 2.5 km Youth Race (Children 9–14 years old)
Midday — Main Races
- 11:00 — 5 km Fun Run (Main distance for most hobby runners)
- 12:00 — 12.5 km Main Race (Berlin Runner's Cup scoring, dress rehearsal for Half Marathon)

Getting There
Tram M1 to Schönholzer Heide or Bus 107, 250 to Hermann-Hesse-Straße. S-Bahn S1/S25 to S Wollankstraße or S Schönholz, then a 10-minute walk. Arriving by bicycle is highly recommended.
Registration
Online registration via laufauswertung.com. Registration fees start from approx. €15 for shorter distances, up to approx. €25 for the 12.5 km. On-site registration is possible on the day of the event.
