Traditional Pentecost Schützenfest in Leuzbach-Bergenhausen with the band Dohlemer Boube and free admission on all three days
Leuzbach and neighboring Bergenhausen are located in the southern part of the Altenkirchen district, in the Altenkirchen-Flammersfeld collective municipality. The Pentecost Schützenfest is one of the most important club events for both villages and attracts festival guests from the region every year. The connection of the two districts in a common marksmen's club underscores the close village neighborhood.
The festival spans three Pentecost days from Saturday, May 23rd, to Monday, May 25th, 2026. These full three festival days allow for a dense program of marksmen's traditions, music, and social gatherings.
The event begins on Saturday evening with the assembly at 5:45 PM, followed by the coronation ceremony of the youth majesties. The youth majesties — youth king and youth queen — are crowned in a solemn ceremony and represent the club's youth department for the following year. Afterward, the popular band Dohlemer Boube takes over the musical program, ensuring a lively marquee atmosphere late into the night.
Sunday is dedicated to the grand parade starting at 2:00 PM. The procession is musically accompanied by the Stadtkapelle Rennerod and the Siegtaler Bläsercorps Dattenfeld — an impressive combination of Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalian brass traditions. The marksmen march in full uniform with flags and insignia through the village, past dense rows of spectators. In the evening, the Königsschwoof (king's ball) follows — the festive dance event in honor of the king and queen couples.
Pentecost Monday begins with the Frühschoppen (morning pint), musically presented by the music corps of FF Nistertal. Starting at 2:00 PM, the Mittlere Garde HC Erbachtal performs — a dance formation known in the region for its precise choreography. Afterward, the bird shooting takes place, the central competition point for determining the new marksmen's king.
A remarkable special feature is the free admission on all three festival days — a gesture of openness that makes the festival particularly family-friendly. A small amusement park with carousels, candy stalls, and small rides is aimed at families with children and complements the program.
The program is confirmed by the AK-Kurier:
From 5:45 PM, assembly of marksmen and festival guests at the festival grounds. Coronation ceremony of the youth majesties — the youth king and youth queen are crowned with the presentation of the youth king's chain.
