The OVIGO Theater, a well-known theatre group in the Upper Palatinate, will bring the classic "Robin Hood" to the stage as an open-air play in 2026. One of the venues is the castle courtyard of Schloss Burgtreswitz in Moosbach, located in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district of the state of Bavaria. The historic setting of the castle courtyard lends the family play a special atmosphere.

The Story

The production follows the young Robin of Locksley, who comes into conflict with the law and stands up against injustice. The focus is on the triumph of good over evil and the longing for freedom. The play is based on the version by John von Düffel and captivates with its clever dialogue, many humorous moments, and action.

Direction and Ensemble

The direction is by Regensburg-based theatre educator Manuel Knoll. Musical elements are choreographed by Susanne Hutzler. The main roles include Elisa von Stern as Robin Hood and Emma Igl as the Sheriff of Nottingham. The OVIGO Theater is known for its dedicated open-air productions at special locations in the Upper Palatinate.

Family Theatre Under the Open Sky

As a new family play, the production is explicitly aimed at young and old alike. The performances in the castle courtyard of Burgtreswitz are part of a tour that also takes the play to Grafenwöhr and Winklarn. The open-air theatre in the castle courtyard is a cultural highlight of the summer in the northern Upper Palatinate.
