The Oberpfalzfestival is one of the largest open-air concerts in the northern Oberpfälzer Wald. Every July, Bavaria's biggest Schlager and rock bands perform on the sports grounds in Tännesberg. 2026 marks the 19th edition with the legendary Spider Murphy Gang as headliner (49th stage anniversary), the Golden Glitter Band, Peter – Tribute to Maffay, and Highline. Free admission for children under 14.

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, the 19th Oberpfalzfestival invites you to the Tännesberg sports grounds. Four bands on the open-air stage: Spider Murphy Gang (49th anniversary), Golden Glitter Band, Peter – Tribute to Maffay, and Highline. Doors open at 4 PM, festival starts at 5 PM. Getting There

By car via the A 6 (Nuremberg–Waidhaus), exit Pfreimd or Wernberg-Köblitz, then follow signs to Tännesberg. By train to Weiden, then by bus.

The venue is the sports grounds on Pfreimder Straße — a classic club sports ground that transforms into a stage for several thousand spectators once a year. 2026 will be the 19th edition.

Spider Murphy Gang as Headliner

The headliner for 2026 is the Spider Murphy Gang — arguably the most famous Bavarian rock band. Hits like „Skandal im Sperrbezirk“, „Schickeria“, or „Bus durch die City“ have shaped German music history for decades. In 2026, the band celebrates its 49th stage anniversary. They have already performed successfully in Tännesberg in 2015, 2018, and 2023 — their return in 2026 is an anticipated reunion.

Tännesberg in the Oberpfälzer Wald

Tännesberg is a traditional market town in the district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab, in the heart of the Oberpfälzer Wald, about 30 km east of Weiden in der Oberpfalz. The region is characterized by forests, moors, and granite rocks — and is one of the quietest corners of Bavaria. A festival visit can be combined with a hike in the Oberpfälzer Wald Nature Park or a day trip to Tirschenreuth.
