Four Days of City Festival in Overath

The Overath City Festival is the most important city center weekend of the year in the Bergisch city — an event that OVplus Stadtmarketing has organized annually on the first weekend of September since 2015. With the 11th edition in 2026, the festival continues its tradition of transforming the Overath city center into a festival mile for four days. The concept is consistently versatile: a funfair for families, a wine village for connoisseurs, a music festival for concert-goers — all within close proximity in the manageable city center.

Program Components

Funfair "An den Gärten"

Classic funfair component with rides for young and old — bumper cars, chain carousel, Ferris wheel, and depending on the year, specialties like the Disco Express. Showman stalls with sweets, classic snacks, and lottery booths. The festival grounds 'An den Gärten' become a meeting point for families with children.

Wine Village at the Kulturbahnhof

The Wine Village is the enjoyment-oriented component of the city festival — wine pavilions with vintner taverns, food trucks, and a relaxed lounge atmosphere are set up at the Kulturbahnhof. The ideal meeting point for adults away from the funfair.

Music Festival on Bahnhofplatz

The stage program on Bahnhofplatz is the musical heart of the festival. Music for all generations — based on previous years' programs, expect classic cover bands like Queen May Rock and Rambling Men, local Cologne program items on Saturday, and an 80s program on Monday with the traditional closing concert before the fireworks.

Family Day on Monday with Fireworks

Family Day on Monday is an Overath specialty: special prices for families on the rides, and the program is particularly child-friendly. It concludes with fireworks on Monday evening — the official finale of the festival.

Sunday Program

On Sunday morning, an ecumenical open-air service is on the program — the start of a day with the club mile (local clubs present themselves), a flea market, and a youth program on stage.

Overath is located in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis, east of Cologne and at the transition between the Rhineland and the Bergisches Land. The city has around 27,000 inhabitants, spread across several districts. The city center is compact, which adds to the charm of the city festival — short distances between the funfair, wine village, and stage. Those combining the festival with a day trip can explore the Bergisches Land with its reservoirs (Sülztalsperre, Diepentalsperre) and forest hiking trails.

OVplus Stadtmarketing as Organizer

The organizer is OVplus Stadtmarketing Overath — an initiative of the city and local businesses that has been coordinating city festivals, events, and downtown activities for years. The main sponsor is Brock Immobilien Overath. The combination of municipal sponsorship and private sector engagement makes the format economically stable and gives the event local roots.
