Easter Saturday, April 4, 2026 — Meadow on Lindenstraße, Vegesack
The Vegesack Volunteer Fire Brigade organises the Easter bonfire together with the Lindenstraße Action Group. The exact hourly schedule and band lineup for 2026 will traditionally be announced shortly before Easter via the daily press and a flyer – the proven schedule from previous years is as follows:
- Afternoon — Small children's Easter bonfire for grilling stick bread. The Easter Bunny visits every hour and hands out sweets to the children.
- From approx. 7:00 p.m. — Lighting of the two large Easter bonfires one after another on the meadow on Lindenstraße.
- Evening programme — Live music with two pop and rock bands from the Kulturbunker Vulkan musicians' association, plus continuous catering.
Catering: Food, cold drinks, and a mulled wine stand on site. The current programme will be published in good time on the events page of VIP Bremen-Nord.
Note: The Lindenstraße Easter bonfire of the Vegesack Fire Brigade is not to be confused with the separate barrel Easter bonfire of the Vegesacker Schützenverein in Hermann-Löns-Straße.

When the Easter bonfire burns in Vegesack
In the north, the Easter bonfire is as much a part of Easter as the egg is to the Easter Bunny. In Vegesack, the Vegesack Volunteer Fire Brigade has been organising the event together with the Lindenstraße Action Group since 2006 – and it is one of Bremen's largest Easter bonfires. On Easter Saturday, April 4, 2026, two fires will blaze one after another on the meadow on Lindenstraße from around 7 p.m., and several thousand people regularly come to be there.
A celebration for young and old
A small children's Easter bonfire for grilling stick bread starts in the afternoon. The Easter Bunny visits every hour and hands out sweets to the children. When the large fires are lit in the evening, two bands, in cooperation with the Kulturbunker musicians' association, provide live music. Food, drinks, and a mulled wine stand are provided – making Easter evening by the fire a convivial meeting point for the entire district.
Living Easter tradition
The Easter bonfire is deeply rooted in North German tradition: it symbolises the driving away of winter and the beginning of spring. The fact that the Vegesack Volunteer Fire Brigade has voluntarily organised the event for almost two decades makes it a fixed, identity-shaping date in the calendar of Bremen-Nord.
On Lindenstraße in Vegesack
The venue is the meadow on Lindenstraße next to the former Vulkan administration building, opposite the Vegesack cemetery, in the Vegesack district. Easy accessibility by bus and free parking make the bonfire an easily reachable Easter excursion.
