About Open Air Sommer

From July 19th to 21st, 2026, the Heidelgarten in Heidelberg will transform into an open-air stage with three very different program days: Friday will be Bavarian-colorful with LaBrassBanda and dicht&ergreifend, Saturday brings an electronic dance night with LARI LUKE, TOPIC, KLINGANDE, and BENNETT, and Sunday finally Schlager and Pop with Pietro Lombardi and special guest Mike Singer. Three days, three genres, one open-air format — designed for the Heidelberg summer season and the festival-savvy audience of the university city in the Rhine-Neckar region.

Open Air Sommer Heidelberg — Young Format with Big Names

The Open Air Sommer Heidelberg is a relatively new festival format, first held in the Heidelgarten in 2024, and is entering its third edition in 2026 with a significantly expanded program. The organizer is Semmel Concerts Entertainment GmbH from Bayreuth, one of the major German concert agencies. The concept is clear: three days of open air, a different genre each day, a clear headliner constellation each day — this distinguishes the format from classic multi-day genre festivals.

Three Genre Days Instead of One Festival Mix

Friday, July 19th kicks off with the Bavarian brass-pop band LaBrassBanda (Hungary, southeastern European and alpine rhythms with modern brass sounds) and the German Bavarian rap duo dicht&ergreifend. Saturday, July 20th becomes an electronic dance night: DJ LARI LUKE as resident act, plus TOPIC (German dance music producer, “Breaking Me”, “Don't Wait”), KLINGANDE (French deep house project, “Jubel”), and BENNETT. Sunday, July 21st will finally be dominated by Pietro Lombardi (winner DSDS 2011) and his special guest Mike Singer with modern German Pop and Schlager.

Heidelgarten — The Open-Air Stage

The venue is the Heidelgarten, a green concert location on the outskirts of Heidelberg. Unlike the historic Heidelberg old town — with its narrow streets and listed buildings — the Heidelgarten offers space for modern open-air productions with a large stage, catering areas, and vendor spots. The location allows arrival by public transport and car and is one of the newer open-air stages in the Rhine-Neckar region.

Heidelberg — University City, Festival City

Heidelberg (independent city in the state of Baden-Württemberg, district 08221) with around 160,000 inhabitants is one of Germany's most famous university cities. The young audience, the high cultural density (theater, Karlstorbahnhof, Halle 02, Schloss-Konzerte, Heidelberger Frühling, Enjoy Jazz), and the proximity to Mannheim and Frankfurt make Heidelberg an attractive festival city. The Open Air Sommer Heidelberg complements the established festival formats with a clearly popular, multi-day open-air approach.

Open Air Sommer — edition 2026

The Open Air Sommer Heidelberg 2026 runs from Friday, July 19th to Sunday, July 21st in the Heidelgarten. Friday: LaBrassBanda and dicht&ergreifend (Folk-Brass, Bavarian Rap). Saturday: LARI LUKE, TOPIC, KLINGANDE, and BENNETT (Dance, Deep-House, Electronic). Sunday: Pietro Lombardi and Mike Singer (Schlager, Pop). Tickets per day or as a three-day pass.

Open Air Sommer Heidelberg 2026 — Three Days, Three Genres

The 2026 edition of Open Air Sommer Heidelberg is structured around three clear program lines. On Friday, July 19th, LaBrassBanda opens the festival with their distinctive mix of Bavarian brass music, southeastern European influences, and modern pop elements. The evening is complemented by the Bavarian rap duo dicht&ergreifend — a genre combination that connects the Folk-Brass audience with younger rap fans.

On Saturday, July 20th, the Heidelgarten becomes a dance stage: DJ and producer LARI LUKE acts as resident, accompanied by international acts TOPIC (dance-pop producer with hits like “Breaking Me”), KLINGANDE (French deep house project), and German rapper/producer BENNETT.

The festival concludes on Sunday, July 21st with performances by Pietro Lombardi and special guest Mike Singer — modern Schlager and Pop for a different audience segment.
