About Oktoberlauf Cottbus

The Cottbus October Run is the largest and most traditional running event in Lower Lusatia and the city of Cottbus. In 2026, the 50th anniversary edition will take place — half a century of fun run tradition in the capital of Lower Lusatia. From the Bambini run to the 5 and 10 km runs, the half marathon and marathon, there are routes for all age groups and performance levels. You'll run through the scenic Lower Lusatia, organized by the traditional LC Cottbus e.V. — and for the 50th anniversary in 2026, the event will be celebrated with special laps of honor, anniversary medals, and festive ceremonies.

Cottbus — Capital of Lower Lusatia

Cottbus is the second-largest city in Brandenburg and the cultural and sporting center of Lower Lusatia. With around 100,000 inhabitants and an active sports scene, the city offers numerous sporting events throughout the year. The October Run is one of the oldest and most traditional fun runs in Brandenburg — in 2026, it celebrates its 50th edition.

LC Cottbus — Organizer with Tradition

LC Cottbus e.V. has been the organizer of the October Run since the 1970s. The club combines competitive sport, popular sport, and talent promotion — and the October Run is the annual showcase of this club philosophy. The start and finish are at Hermann-Löns-Straße 1a in Cottbus, the club grounds. Registrations are possible online via the club's website and via runnersworld.de.

Distances for Everyone

The 2026 running program includes the full range: Marathon (42.195 km), Half Marathon (21.1 km), 10 km, 5 km, 2 km, 1 km, and 0.4 km. In addition, there are youth and Bambini competitions. Even march and walking participants are welcome — the October Run is explicitly a fun run, not an elite competition. The main race traditionally starts at 9:00 AM. The course leads through scenic areas of Cottbus and the surrounding Lower Lusatia.

50th Anniversary Edition as a Highlight

2026 marks the 50th edition of the Cottbus October Run — half a century of Brandenburg running tradition. The anniversary will be celebrated with special program points: anniversary medals for all participants, laps of honor for multiple participants, a ceremony for former winners. Anyone who has ever participated in the October Run has the opportunity in 2026 to celebrate a piece of Brandenburg sports history. Registration via oktoberlauf-cottbus.de. Accompanying programs along the route and in the finish area ensure a festive sporting atmosphere, and the Cottbus surroundings with Branitz Park (Pückler Park) are ideal for a Sunday excursion after the run.
