Theatre at a Hohenzollern Castle

For many years, the Cadolzburg Castle Festival has used the courtyard of Cadolzburg Castle as an open-air venue. The castle, a former residence of the Burgraves of Nuremberg and the early Hohenzollerns, shapes the image of the market town of Cadolzburg in the district of Fürth with its silhouette – and in summer, it becomes a stage for a theatre programme tailored specifically to it.

Amateur Theatre with Months of Preparation

The association Cadolzburger Burgfestspiele e.V. is the driving force, bringing a musical or play to the castle stage each year. The ensemble consists of amateurs, some of whom have been involved for many years; rehearsals take place over several months. Performances are traditionally held in July, with evening shows and occasional afternoon performances.

Cadolzburg in the District of Fürth

Cadolzburg is a market town in the Middle Franconian district of Fürth, southwest of Fürth itself and west of Nuremberg. The castle is one of the most impressive structures in the region and, since 2017, houses the high-tech experience museum HerrschaftsZeiten! Erlebnis Cadolzburg by the Bavarian Administration of Palaces, Gardens and Lakes. With the castle festival, the castle also appears as a theatre stage in the summer.
