Shuttle boat from Breege harbour to the open-air stage Ralswiek
The Störtebeker Festival in Ralswiek was founded in 1993 and has since become one of Europe's most visited open-air theatres: over 9 million visitors in more than 30 seasons. On the magnificent natural stage on the Großer Jasmunder Bodden, the ensemble stages the story of the legendary likedeeler Klaus Störtebeker and his Vitalienbrüder — with real ships, horses, pyrotechnics, and fireworks.
2026 marks the beginning of the VII. play cycle of the festival with the premiere of "Likedeeler". More than 60 performances are planned from June 20 to September 5. Over 150 participants, 4 ships, 30 horses, special effects, and an evening fireworks display over the Bodden make every performance a spectacle. Performances begin at 8:00 PM, with a duration of approximately three hours, including an intermission.
From the small Breege Harbour on the Wittow peninsula, a shuttle boat travels directly to the Naturbühne Ralswiek during the performance season. Departure from Breege around 6:15 PM, arrival in time for the performance at 8:00 PM. The journey across the Bodden — past the Großer Jasmunder Bodden and along the island of Hiddensee on the horizon — is part of the experience and particularly popular with regular guests. Ralswiek is approximately 30 km as the crow flies from Breege.
Breege belongs to the Vorpommern-Rügen district in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Ralswiek itself is also located in the Vorpommern-Rügen district, south of Bergen auf Rügen. The combined water journey is a special feature of the festival and makes Breege harbour a recurring meeting point for theatre guests during the season.

The production mobilizes over 150 participants, 4 ships, 30 horses, spectacular riding scenes, special effects, and a nightly fireworks display over the Großer Jasmunder Bodden. The shuttle boat from Breege is part of the festival offering and an experience in itself: about two hours of sailing across the Bodden through the nature reserve to the stage's landing, together with other festival guests.
