First edition of the Nuremberg indoor punk festival with 30 bands on 3 stages
The Nürnberg Punk Fest is the new punk festival of the Franconian metropolis and celebrates its premiere in 2026. The organizers are an alliance of Wasted Open Air (organized by Turbojugend Schlachthaus e.V.) and KNRD Fest – two well-known entities in the South German DIY punk scene. The venue is the Künstlerhaus in the KunstKulturQuartier, the city of Nuremberg's alternative cultural center, located directly at the main train station.
Over two festival days, around 30 bands will perform on three stages. The stylistic spectrum ranges from melodic punk rock to hardcore, ska-punk, DIY-punk, and crossover, up to experimental acts. The festival consciously positions itself as an indoor counterpart to the summer Wasted Open Air – with the ambition of a classic punk weekend in an urban setting.
Nuremberg, with around 540,000 inhabitants, is the second-largest city in Bavaria and an important center of the South German punk scene. KNRD Fest has established itself over the years as a fixture on the indoor punk calendar; Wasted Open Air additionally brings open-air experience to the new event. The Künstlerhaus in the KunstKulturQuartier (KuKuQ) has been the most important alternative cultural center in Middle Franconia for decades.
Three stages are spread across the Künstlerhaus – the main stage in the large hall, and secondary stages in other rooms. Between performances, there will be food and drinks with vegan and vegetarian options, merchandise stands from bands and labels, plus DJ sets during breaks.
With its first edition on February 20 and 21, 2026, Wasted Open Air and KNRD Fest join forces for a new indoor punk festival in Nuremberg city center. The Künstlerhaus in the KunstKulturQuartier opens its three stages for 30 bands from punk, hardcore, ska-punk, and DIY crossover.
The lineup is clearly divided between the two festival days: Friday represents the established punk rock acts (Pogendroblem, Not On Tour), while Saturday brings international voices (Random Hand, Svetlanas, Maria Iskariot) and experimental acts (Dÿse).
