From Village Festival to Festival Phenomenon
Untrasried is located in the Ostallgäu district, between Obergünzburg and Kempten – a village with just under 800 inhabitants. The fact that one of Southern Germany's largest rock festivals, attracting around 10,000 visitors, takes place here in spring is an anomaly in the Bavarian festival landscape. Started in 1999 as a small club festival, Rockfrühling is now a firmly established brand in Allgäu festival culture. The organizer is the volunteer-run Rockfrühling Untrasried e.V.
Atmosphere Instead of Big City Anonymity
The secret to its success: a peaceful atmosphere, fair prices, and exuberant spirits across all age groups. Families celebrate alongside heavy metal fans, seniors stand at the beer stand with students, and local cover bands alternate with well-known acts. While other festivals become increasingly commercial, Rockfrühling has retained the character of a large village festival.
Three Days, Three Characters
The program is classically divided into three days:
- Thursday — Family Festival with child-friendly programming and reduced prices for families
- Friday — Heavy Rock'n'Party as the highlight of the atmosphere with loud cover bands, folk-rock, and Bavarian Rock
- Saturday — Generations with a mix of classics and hits for all age groups
Bands and Acts
The highlights of past years read like a who's who of Bavarian Rock and the cover band scene: Troglauer, Die Draufgänger, Schreyner (ex-Face musician), Vanessa Mai as a special guest, Simon&Mac, Los Brudalos, Shark, Niklas Dee, Habe & Dere, Wanted, DJ Kiss. The Allgäu has developed its own rock star flair – Untrasried is the stage for it.
Arrival and Atmosphere
The festival grounds at the Untrasried outdoor pool offer ample space, are well-connected, and are located on the outskirts of the village. The organizer promotes bus travel (registration via [email protected]), and camping is possible. The festival atmosphere in the Allgäu hills between the Allgäu Alps and the foothills of the Alps is an experience in itself – fresh air, clear views of the mountains, mild April evenings.

Rockfrühling 2026 – Three Days of Allgäu Rock
The next round of Rockfrühling from April 9 to 11, 2026: Family Festival on Thursday, Heavy Rock'n'Party on Friday, and Generations Saturday on the final day. The venue is again the festival grounds Am Freibad in Untrasried.
Friday Highlight
Friday evening sets the standard: Bavarian Rock legend Troglauer, Schlager stars Die Draufgänger, acoustic duo Simon&Mac, and newcomer group Los Brudalos. Starts at 8 PM. Experience shows that the evening sells out early.

Festival grounds Am Freibad 1, 87496 Untrasried, Ostallgäu district. By car: A7 exit Bad Grönenbach (8 km) or A96 exit Buchloe. By train: Kaufbeuren or Kempten station, then bus or festival shuttle. Group bus travel is recommended (registration via [email protected]).
