A Sunday full of brass music in the Stadtpark

Norderstedt is one of the largest cities in Schleswig-Holstein, located directly north of the Hanseatic city of Hamburg. With its Stadtpark and the Waldbühne (forest stage), the city in the Segeberg district boasts one of the most beautiful open-air stages in the region. This is where the Musikverein Norderstedt e.V. (Music Association) hosts its major benefit concert, NORDwind, once a year.

Four ensembles, five hours of programming

Unlike many open-air events, NORDwind features a rotation of several ensembles from the association. The 2026 program spans a wide spectrum of brass music:

  • 12:00 PM — Fishhead Horns Big Band opens with swing, Latin arrangements, and jazz standards
  • 2:00 PM — Symphonic Wind Orchestra Norderstedt with symphonic works
  • 3:30 PM — Brass, Wind & Fun, the youth ensemble, with rock, pop, and film music
  • 4:00 PM — Young Wind Orchestra Norderstedt concludes the concert afternoon

Benefit for SOS Children's Villages

Admission is free — donations are welcome on-site. Proceeds benefit SOS-Kinderdorf e.V. (SOS Children's Villages), an organization that provides family homes for neglected and orphaned children worldwide. Thus, NORDwind combines musical diversity with a social cause — typical of the association's work at Musikverein Norderstedt.

Stadtpark Norderstedt — the green living room

The Stadtpark Norderstedt was created in 2011 for the State Garden Show and is now one of Schleswig-Holstein's largest urban park areas, covering over 80 hectares. The Waldbühne Am Kulturwerk is located in the middle of the park, nestled among trees — an open-air venue that, in its size and atmosphere, is more reminiscent of Scandinavia than Northern Germany.

NORDwind Norderstedt — edition 2026

NORDwind 2026 takes place on Sunday, June 14, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on the Waldbühne in the Stadtpark Norderstedt. Four ensembles from the Musikverein Norderstedt e.V. — Fishhead Horns Big Band, Symphonic Wind Orchestra, Brass, Wind & Fun, and the Young Wind Orchestra. Free admission, donations for SOS Children's Villages.

The 2026 edition of NORDwind continues the established format: a five-hour open-air afternoon featuring all ensembles of the music association. On the Waldbühne in Stadtpark Norderstedt, the musicians present a diverse program — from Big Band swing, symphonic brass music, to rock, pop, and film music.

Admission is free. Donations are welcome on-site for SOS-Kinderdorf e.V. (SOS Children's Villages) — the event's long-standing charity partner. The Sunday afternoon concludes together in the Stadtpark.
