Open-air benefit concert on the Waldbühne in the Stadtpark for the benefit of SOS Children's Villages
Norderstedt is one of the largest cities in Schleswig-Holstein, located directly north of the Hanseatic city of Hamburg. With its Stadtpark and the Waldbühne (forest stage), the city in the Segeberg district boasts one of the most beautiful open-air stages in the region. This is where the Musikverein Norderstedt e.V. (Music Association) hosts its major benefit concert, NORDwind, once a year.
Unlike many open-air events, NORDwind features a rotation of several ensembles from the association. The 2026 program spans a wide spectrum of brass music:
Admission is free — donations are welcome on-site. Proceeds benefit SOS-Kinderdorf e.V. (SOS Children's Villages), an organization that provides family homes for neglected and orphaned children worldwide. Thus, NORDwind combines musical diversity with a social cause — typical of the association's work at Musikverein Norderstedt.
The Stadtpark Norderstedt was created in 2011 for the State Garden Show and is now one of Schleswig-Holstein's largest urban park areas, covering over 80 hectares. The Waldbühne Am Kulturwerk is located in the middle of the park, nestled among trees — an open-air venue that, in its size and atmosphere, is more reminiscent of Scandinavia than Northern Germany.
The 2026 edition of NORDwind continues the established format: a five-hour open-air afternoon featuring all ensembles of the music association. On the Waldbühne in Stadtpark Norderstedt, the musicians present a diverse program — from Big Band swing, symphonic brass music, to rock, pop, and film music.
Admission is free. Donations are welcome on-site for SOS-Kinderdorf e.V. (SOS Children's Villages) — the event's long-standing charity partner. The Sunday afternoon concludes together in the Stadtpark.
Program subject to change. Updates at mvnorderstedt.de and in the Stadtpark event calendar at stadtpark-norderstedt.de.
Subway U1 from Hamburg to Norderstedt-Mitte, then about a 15-minute walk to the Stadtpark. By car: A7 exit Quickborn, then follow signs towards Norderstedt-Mitte. Parking available at Kulturwerk and the Stadtpark entrance.
Free. Donations for SOS Children's Villages welcome.
Pack a picnic blanket, sunscreen, and water — the event runs for five hours outdoors. Picnicking on the lawn in front of the Waldbühne is explicitly permitted.
