Norderstedt in the Segeberg District

Norderstedt, with around 80,000 inhabitants, is the fifth-largest city in Schleswig-Holstein and is located north of Hamburg in the Segeberg district. The young city — formed in 1970 from the merger of four former municipalities — is now an economic center of the Hamburg metropolitan region with its own subway connection (U1).

Stadtpark and Sports Week

The Stadtpark Norderstedt with its Stadtparksee has been the heart of Norderstedt's club life for years. Every year at the end of August to the beginning of September, the Norderstedt Sports Week takes place here, a series of sporting events that position the city as a sports location. The Norderstedt Triathlon is its sporting highlight — the conclusion of a program that also includes long-distance swimming, the RAD am Gutenbergring festival, and the Hamburg Airport Evening Run.

Three Disciplines — One Course

• Swimming in the Stadtparksee
• Cycling on a brisk route through Norderstedt's neighborhoods
• Running with a turnaround course around the Stadtparksee

The event is held together with the Stadtwerke Norderstedt Group and is open to all performance levels — from beginner triathlons with short distances to experienced triathletes testing their season form.

An Established Sporting Event

With its 19th edition in 2026, the Norderstedt Triathlon is one of the established triathlons in the Segeberg district and the Hamburg surrounding area. The combination of a central Stadtpark ambiance, well-maintained infrastructure, and the Sports Week atmosphere makes it a popular season finale for many North German triathletes.
