A Festival Weekend in Three Parts

The festival weekend of Neifeier, Children's Festival, and Market Festival is the most important festival in Neustadt bei Coburg, the "Doll Town" in the Coburg district of Upper Franconia. It combines three independent festivals into a three-day highlight in the summer and brings the entire town to life.

The Children's Festival – Intangible Cultural Heritage

The centerpiece is the Children's Festival on Saturday, which looks back on a tradition of around 470 years and is recognized as Bavarian intangible cultural heritage. After a musical wake-up call in the morning, a grand parade with schoolchildren, music bands, and decorated floats proceeds through the town center at 1 p.m. On the Schützenplatz, there are performances and entertainment on offer.

Neifeier and Market Festival

The weekend kicks off on Friday with the Neifeier in the market square – a convivial evening with live music and refreshments. On Sunday, the Market Festival marks the conclusion: from 11 a.m., hearty folk music creates a "Frühschoppen" (morning pint) atmosphere, followed by entertainment and dancing in the afternoon.

Tradition and Community

Organized by the town of Neustadt bei Coburg, the festival weekend with free admission is a unifying event for all generations. It preserves the centuries-old tradition of the Children's Festival and strengthens the identity of the doll town in the Coburg district – a living example of Upper Franconian customs.
