Nailaer Herbst

Town festival since 1996

The Nailaer Herbst has been the major social gathering event of the Upper Franconian small town of Naila in the Hof district, Bavaria, on the edge of the Frankenwald since 1996. Organized by the town of Naila in collaboration with local clubs, shops, and restaurateurs, the festival invites you to a full-day experience in the town center every early October. The 29th edition took place in 2025, and the 30th edition will be celebrated in 2026 – a small anniversary.

Market and Venues

The market extends over several axes of the town center:

• Market Square – Main stage and central market area
• Kronacher Straße – Stalls, mini-cars for children, pony rides
• Rittwegs-Kreuzung – Music spotlight stage
• Puccini – Café-restaurant with its own concert area

Typical autumn market goods are available: flowers and plants for autumn, household items, jewelry, decorations, handicrafts, regional specialties from the Frankenwald.

Music Program

Music is played throughout the town center:

• Rainer Lohr with his classics at Rittwegs-Kreuzung
• „Living in the Past" at Café Puccini
• Duo „late light" on the Market Square

Culinary Delights

Local clubs provide the catering infrastructure:

• Lions Club Naila – „Naalicher Schwammaschnitz" (Franconian mushroom slices, regional specialty)
• Bundeswehr Reservists – Stew specialties
• Meta Brew Society – Weißwurst breakfast from 11 a.m.
• International cuisine at various market stalls
• Frankenwald beer and non-alcoholic refreshments

Children's Program

The Nailaer Herbst offers for children:

• Carousel on the Market Square
• Pony rides on Kronacher Straße
• Mini-cars (children's vehicles)
• Live alpacas from Höllental-Alpakas on the Market Square – petting and walking opportunities
• Craft and play activities by the Protestant Church community

Sunday Shopping

Naila's shops are open on the day of the town festival from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Many visitors combine the market day with a shopping stroll through the small town center with its owner-managed shops.

Naila and the Frankenwald

With around 7,500 inhabitants, Naila is a typical small town in the Frankenwald, on the edge of the Höllental valley and near the Saale region. The Nailaer Herbst attracts visitors from all over Hochfranken to Naila every year – an early autumn day that brings the Hof district together.
