19 concerts at 8 locations in the Oberstadt — Free admission
The Siegener Nacht der Musik is the annual classical and jazz highlight of the university city of Siegen — and one of the dates when the entire Siegener Oberstadt becomes an open concert stage. In 2026, 19 concerts will be held at 8 locations — a dense concert tour where guests can wander between venues on foot. Free admission. Exact date for 2026 expected in November or December — the announcement will be made in autumn on the KulturSiegen channels.
The lineup combines three genre focuses:
The Nacht der Musik is a joint event by KulturSiegen and the Fritz-Busch-Musikschule. Concept: Guests wander on foot between the venues in the Oberstadt in one night — from concert to concert. Each concert slot is usually 30–45 minutes long, so you can experience 4–6 different concerts over the course of the evening. The free-form exploration makes the evening an urban experience.
Siegen has a distinct musical tradition — documented by the connection to Fritz Busch (the famous conductor was born in Siegen) and by the University of Siegen with its music education program. The Fritz-Busch-Musikschule is one of the most renowned music schools in West Germany. The Nacht der Musik is the annual stage bundling of this identity.
The Oberstadt is the historic heart of Siegen — located on the hill from which the city derives its name. Here lies the Oberes Schloss (now a museum), the Unteres Schloss (university buildings), the Museum für Gegenwartskunst, and the Nikolai-Kirche with its iconic Krönchen tower. A compact, cobblestone pedestrian zone — ideal as a concert tour setting.
One night — a walking concert tour through the historic Oberstadt. Guests can move between venues on foot and experience 4–6 different concerts over the course of the evening.
Concert slots of 30–45 minutes at the 8 venues, running in parallel and sequentially. Guests wander through the Oberstadt between concerts.
Oberes Schloss — Concert hall program featuring classical chamber music and solo pieces.
Museum für Gegenwartskunst — Concerts in the foyer and exhibition spaces — classical and jazz in a modern setting.
Campus Unteres Schloss — University spaces featuring choral performances and student ensembles.
Other Locations — Churches, citizens' hall, other historic spaces in the Oberstadt.
