Tips
If you want to feel the historic dimension: 18.04. is the symbolically most important night (the Warehouse Rave as opening). If you love Eurodance, 24.04. is for you — Captain Jack live in this hall is a one-off experience. The club night on 25.04. is the most accessible option.
Three nights, one hall, then demolition
In spring 2026 the old industrial hall at Schüchtermannstraße 12 in the Funkenbergquartier in Herne-Nord will be demolished. Before the excavators take over the deconstruction, they get to play along once more: organisers Jano and Mika Menzel of LM:V Events have rented the hall for three "demolition parties" — short, uncompromising and highly symbolic. Over 2,000 visitors came to the opening, urgent legal applications from residents were dismissed, and the concept passed muster before the administrative court.
When and where does the festival run?
N8WERK 2026 consists of three dates:
- Saturday 18 April 2026, 18:00–05:00 – Warehouse Rave (Techno)
- Friday 24 April 2026, 20:00–03:00 – "Heroes of the 90s" (Eurodance, 90s party)
- Saturday 25 April 2026, 20:00–03:00 – Club night (clubhouse, mashups, charts)
The venue is the hall at the Funkenbergquartier (Schüchtermannstraße 12, 44628 Herne).
The three concepts in detail
1. Warehouse Rave (18.04.2026)
An eleven-hour techno night with DJs including Mha Iri, Ian Crank and Jay Lumen. Open-floor format over 4,500 m², industrial lighting design, stage framed by rented excavators — the hall itself becomes the stage.
2. Heroes of the 90s (24.04.2026)
A 90s Eurodance party with live acts: Captain Jack, Shaun Baker, Aquagen — Eurodance icons of the late nineties and early two-thousands. Plus a themed wall and 90s visuals.
3. Club night (25.04.2026)
A classic club night with clubhouse, mashups and chart hits. Easier to come and go than at the techno rave, designed for a more mixed crowd.
Hall and setting
The hall spans 4,500 m² of industrial floor, with room for around 2,000 visitors per night (more with extended safety measures). The stage is framed by excavators that work both as design element and reference to the impending demolition. Lighting and sound are sized for one-off use — nothing is built to last.
Organiser LM:V Events
Behind N8WERK is the LM:V Veranstaltungsservice, run by the brothers Jano and Mika Menzel. The company has been organising festivals and large-scale events in the region for years. The N8WERK concept is new: temporary use of disused industrial architecture for one-off event series. Jano Menzel comments: "Because the set-up doesn't pay off for a single event, we decided on three events with different musical styles."
Herne and the Ruhr area as a club destination
Herne lies right in the middle of the northern Ruhr area, between Bochum, Recklinghausen and Gelsenkirchen. Industrial wastelands like the Funkenbergquartier are symbols of the structural change in the Revier — and time and again become stages for interim uses, from sculpture parks to underground raves. N8WERK fits into this tradition and makes it visible to a wider audience.
