Classical, Sacred Music, Folk Music, and Jazz
The Musiktage in Waging am See is one of the oldest and most renowned concert festivals in the southeastern Bavarian Chiemgau region. Its unique feature is the broad musical spectrum: on each of the seven Sundays, the festival presents either classical chamber music, sacred music, refined folk music, or a jazz programme. The common denominator is the sophisticated, carefully curated selection – big names as well as top regional artists, all performed in acoustically outstanding venues.
Churches on Lake Waging as Stages
The venues are the parish church of St. Martin in Waging am See, the idyllically located pilgrimage church of Maria Mühlberg, and other chapels and sacred buildings in the surrounding area. The parish hall, with its excellent acoustics, is also used. The organiser is the Verein für Heimatpflege und Kultur Waginger See e.V., which, under the direction of Alfons Schmuck, has been managing and programming the festival since 1995. This makes it one of the characteristic cultural institutions on Lake Waging.

Waging am See and the Chiemgau Region
Waging am See is the main town on Lake Waging, the warmest swimming lake in Upper Bavaria, located in the Traunstein district (Bavaria). The region is part of the Chiemgau, one of the most scenically beautiful pre-Alpine regions in southern Germany. The festival combines high culture with a summer holiday: those who spend a week by the lake can experience the depth of the region through the concerts on Sundays. A charming blend of recreation, local heritage, and chamber music.
