The Blühendes Barock, the garden show surrounding the Ludwigsburg Residential Palace, is one of Germany's oldest and most beautiful garden ensembles — 30 hectares, opened in 1954 for the palace's 250th anniversary. On a summer evening in July, the park hosts a special highlight: the Music Fireworks, a pyromusical show in front of the south facade of the baroque Residential Palace. In 2026, the event takes place on Saturday, July 4.

20 Minutes of Perfectly Choreographed Pyrotechnics

The fireworks themselves last only about 20 minutes and begin around 10:30 PM — just as the summer darkness sets in. Pyrotechnicians create a new choreography every year: chain volleys, waterfalls, fountains, and colored salvos are meticulously synchronized to music that blares across the event grounds. Against the warm, yellow stone of the baroque palace facade, a spectacle unfolds that many visitors describe as the most beautiful fireworks experience of their lives.

Musical Pre-Show from 6 PM

So the evening doesn't just start at half-past ten, the musical pre-show runs from 6:00 PM onwards: live music in the South Garden and on the meadow in the lower East Garden, along with festive lighting of the park grounds. You can bring a blanket and picnic, settle down on the lawns, buy a glass of sparkling wine from the stand, and enjoy four hours of summer atmosphere before the fireworks begin.

The Residential Palace as a Backdrop

The Ludwigsburg Residential Palace is one of the largest baroque palaces in Germany, often called the "Swabian Versailles," built between 1704 and 1733 under Duke Eberhard Ludwig of Württemberg. It has 18 buildings, 452 rooms, and three courtyards. The south facade, in front of which the fireworks take place, is the most spectacular side of the complex — and the perfect backdrop for the pyrotechnics. Extending from the palace is the Blühendes Barock with its Fairy Tale Garden, Pumpkin Exhibition, Rose Garden, and many other park areas.

Event Takes Place in All Weather Conditions

The music fireworks take place in all weather conditions — the show will be held even in the rain. Bags are checked randomly upon entry (standard security measure for large events). Tickets can be purchased on-site or at the Blühendes Barock ticket shop.
