Four Days of Brass Music, Tradition, and District Music Festival in the Chiemgau
Founded in 1826, the Reit im Winkl Music Association is one of the oldest brass bands in Upper Bavaria. For its anniversary, the association invites you to a four-day music festival from July 9th to 12th, 2026, in the mountain village on the Tyrolean border. The venue is a specially erected festival tent at the Wirtsgwandn, just a few steps from the Tourist Information office.
The event kicks off on Thursday, July 9th, with the Day of Associations and Businesses, featuring a ceremonial beer tapping. On Friday, July 10th, the Spider Murphy Gang will rock the festival tent along with Sauerkirsch – the cult concert has been sold out for months. Saturday, July 11th, is dedicated to the Oberkrainer evening with Alpine music and dancing. The grand finale is on Sunday, July 12th, with the 56th District Music Festival of the Chiemgau-Rupertiwinkel Music District: over 50 brass bands will parade through the village in a grand procession.
The state-recognized climatic health resort in the Traunstein district has around 2,500 inhabitants and is equally popular as a winter sports destination and a summer retreat. The music festival brings life to the village in high summer: traditional costumes, brass bands from all over Bavaria and Tyrol, gastronomy from the inn opposite, and the typical Chiemgau hospitality.
The mix of a classic district music festival, an Oberkrainer evening, and a pop highlight like the Spider Murphy Gang makes the anniversary special. The festival tent can accommodate several hundred guests, and Bavarian delicacies, draft beer, and wine are served on all days.
Four days, four distinctly different moods: from the traditional Day of Associations to the pop highlight and the Sunday District Music Festival, the anniversary program covers the entire spectrum of Bavarian festival culture.
The event is organized by the Reit im Winkl Music Association e.V. in cooperation with the Chiemgau-Rupertiwinkel Music District and the municipality. The festival tent is located directly at the Wirtsgwandn, not far from the Tourist Information office.
Reit im Winkl is located in the Traunstein district on the B305 (German Alpine Road). Take the train to Übersee or Prien am Chiemsee, then bus line 9505 or 9521. Large parking lot at the festival grounds, clearly signposted.
Free admission to the festival tent on most days. The Spider Murphy Gang concert on July 10th is sold out. Tickets available from Eventim-Light.
Booking through the Tourist Information office (Tel. +49 8640 80020) is recommended – the weekend is traditionally fully booked in the village.
