Five-day brass music festival by the Musikverein Stadtkapelle Ditzingen in the festival tent in Glemsaue.
The first Ditzingen Music Festival took place in 1925 — over 100 years later, the Musikverein Stadtkapelle Ditzingen is once again inviting you to the multi-day festival tent event in Glemsaue. What began exactly a century ago as a club festival for the then-young music association is now one of the largest brass music events in the Stuttgart region and a firm spring highlight for the city of Ditzingen.
The venue is the festival tent on the fairground in Glemsaue — a meadow on the Glems river right in the city of Ditzingen. The tent accommodates several hundred guests, with a stage, bar, dining area, and catering provided by club members. Classic festival tent fare — chicken, schnitzel, steak, pretzels, draft beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Wednesday, May 13th — After Work: From 5:30 PM, "5er Blech – The Specialists for Applied Brass Music" will open the music festival with traditional and modern festival tent brass music until 10:30 PM.
Thursday, May 14th — Family Day: Various orchestras from the region will perform throughout the day. 11:00 AM Stadtkapelle Ditzingen, 2:00 PM the pre-orchestra of the youth band, 2:45 PM the youth brass orchestra, 4:00 PM the Adelsheim Fire Brigade and City Band, 7:00 PM the Erlenbach Music Association. Family program with discounted food.
Friday, May 15th — 20th Ditzinger Musiknacht: The highlight of the week. From 7:30 PM, the live party band Maßeffekt will play until midnight. Admission approx. €14 in advance, €15 at the door. Reservations recommended.
Saturday, May 16th — glemsLÄNDgames: From 12:00 PM, a brass competition between three regional music associations. Performances by EM & Friends, Schnitztal Alphörner, Sax4, Strohgäu-Brass Quintett, and the Glemskehlchen. In the evening from 5:30 PM, the Stadtkapelle Ditzingen, from 8:00 PM the Musikverein Hofen.
Sunday, May 17th — Frühschoppen: Classic club Frühschoppen with beer, pretzels, and brass music.
The Musikverein Stadtkapelle Ditzingen is now one of the largest brass music associations in the Ludwigsburg district. With its main orchestra, youth brass orchestra, pre-orchestra, and brass class collaborations with local schools, the association is a central cultural institution for Ditzingen. The music festival finances a significant portion of the association's activities, instrument purchases, and youth development.
Ditzingen is located in the Ludwigsburg district, northwest of Stuttgart in the so-called Strohgäu — a gently rolling landscape between Stuttgart and Heilbronn. With the S6 train, you can reach Ditzingen from Stuttgart main station in 20 minutes — one of the best public transport connections for an evening visit to the festival tent.
Festival tent in Glemsaue, free admission except for the Music Night.
Take the S6 train from Stuttgart-Hbf to Ditzingen, then a 10-minute walk to Glemsaue. By car, take the B 295 exit Ditzingen. Parking at the fairground is limited — public transport is preferred.
Free admission to all programs except the Ditzinger Musiknacht on Friday (approx. €14–€15). Family Day on Thursday with discounted food.
Catering by club members: Chicken, schnitzel, steak, pretzels, draft beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages. Reservations for the Music Night can be made through the club office.
