Musical Journey Around the World – Gutshaus Dummerstorf

Location and Organizer

Gutshaus Dummerstorf is located at Hof 4a in the municipality of Dummerstorf, east of the Hanseatic city of Rostock. It is managed by the association Kultur im Gutshaus Dummerstorf e. V., which regularly organizes concerts here with renowned musicians and outstanding students from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock (HMT). The program focuses on classical chamber music and piano recitals, supplemented by jazz and folk programs, as well as changing exhibitions.

Format of the Evening

"Musical Journey Around the World" is a classical piano recital in the Garden Hall of the Gutshaus. Pianist Haiou Zhang, an internationally performing soloist, presents a program ranging from Bach and Mozart to Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Debussy, and Gershwin – a journey through the most important stations of 18th, 19th, and 20th-century European and American piano literature.

Atmosphere

The Garden Hall of the Gutshaus offers an unusually intimate concert experience: small seating capacity, high acoustic quality for chamber music, and an ambiance closer to a salon concert than a large concert hall. Visitors on a warm summer evening can experience the Mecklenburg landscape as part of the event.

Regional Context

Gutshaus Dummerstorf is part of a small but dedicated series of manor house cultural venues in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern that open historic buildings for classical repertoire. In the Rostock district, the Gutshaus – alongside Rostock's Stadthafen and Warnemünde – is one of the most important classical concert venues outside the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock.
