Musik im Park 2026 — Schwetzingen's Summer Eight
The 17th edition of Musik im Park offers eight open-air concerts from July 30 to August 9, 2026, in the historic Schwetzingen Palace Garden. The program is a deliberately mixed journey through different genres and generations: Pop classics (Roxette), German trap (Luciano), singer-songwriter (Michael Patrick Kelly), British indie (The Kooks), German indie pop (Giant Rooks), classic hard rock (Uriah Heep with Mother's Finest), classical crossover (David Garrett), and German rap (Zah1de).
Concerts usually start at 8 PM, with gates opening at 6:30 PM. On two dates, gates open earlier (Uriah Heep Aug 7: gates 4:30 PM, start 6 PM; Zah1de Aug 9: gates 4:30 PM, start 6 PM). The concerts take place in the open-air setting of the Palace Garden, regardless of the weather.

Musik im Park — Schwetzingen's Summer
Since 2010, Schwetzingen Palace Garden has become an open-air stage every summer for one to two weeks. The organizer is Musik im Park — a concert concept known for its combination of first-class live acts and a unique historical setting. The open-air concerts take place on a specially constructed festival site in the park — in front of baroque hedges, sculptures, and the Apollo Temple architecture of the electoral summer garden. The concept combines the aesthetic level of a classical music festival (Schwetzinger SWR Festival) with the contemporary popularity of major international pop and rock acts.
Schwetzingen Palace Garden — A World Heritage-Worthy Backdrop
The Schwetzingen Palace Garden is one of Europe's most important baroque complexes. The Palatinate Elector Carl Theodor had the complex expanded in the 18th century as a summer residence — with a French garden, an English landscape park, a mosque, an Apollo Temple, a bathhouse, a Mercury Temple, and Roman water features. Today, the garden is on the list of World Cultural Heritage candidates and is one of the major excursion destinations in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. Concerts against this backdrop have a character found on few other festival stages.
2026 Program — Seven Acts and a Battle of Genres
The 2026 program is diverse: Roxette brings Swedish pop classics ("Joyride", "It Must Have Been Love") to Schwetzingen, Luciano German trap and rap, Michael Patrick Kelly pop and singer-songwriter material from his solo career after his Kelly Family years. The Kooks deliver British indie rock ("Naïve", "She Moves In Her Own Way"), Giant Rooks German indie pop. Uriah Heep with the American funk-rock band Mother's Finest bring classic hard rock to the stage, David Garrett classical crossover violin, and Zah1de German rap.
Schwetzingen — Electoral Town on the Rhine
Schwetzingen (town in the Rhein-Neckar district, Baden-Württemberg, postal code 68723) has around 22,000 inhabitants and is located between Mannheim and Heidelberg in the Upper Rhine Plain. The town is famous for Schwetzingen Castle with its palace garden, the Rococo Theatre, and white asparagus ("Schwetzinger Spargel"). With the Schwetzinger SWR Festival in spring and Musik im Park in summer, Schwetzingen has two renowned festivals of supra-regional importance in its event calendar.
