Art to Touch at the Stettiner Haff

Kunst:Offen is a statewide event in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern where artists open their studios to the public on Pentecost weekend. In Rieth, a village on the Stettiner Haff in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, the Kulturscheune and other studios have participated in this event for years. Instead of a gallery exhibition, guests experience art where it is created—in the workshop amidst fields and villages.

Encounter Instead of Distance

The concept of Kunst:Offen focuses on direct encounters: visitors watch a ceramicist at work, chat with a painter, or have techniques explained to them. The offerings range from painting and photography to textile art and sculpture, ceramics, and jewelry. Statewide, around 1000 artists participate in approximately 500 locations—Rieth is one of them.

Local Context

Rieth is located in the far east of Vorpommern on the Stettiner Haff, near the Polish border. The tranquil landscape between Ueckermünde and the Haff coast provides a special setting for Kunst:Offen and invites visitors to combine the art route with an excursion into the nature of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
