Getting There
By train to Niebüll or Husum, then continue to Dagebüll Mole (Marschbahn). From there, take the WDR ferry to Wyk auf Föhr (approx. 45 minutes). The Sandwall Music Pavilion is a 10-minute walk from the ferry terminal.
Admission
Free. Benches in front of the pavilion, free seating. In case of rain, concerts are sometimes held under the pavilion roof, and sometimes they are canceled.
Wyk auf Föhr: The North Sea's Spa Exemplar
Wyk auf Föhr, with around 4,500 inhabitants, is the only urban settlement on the island of Föhr and a recognized North Sea spa resort since 1819 — making it the oldest German seaside resort on the North Sea. The island itself is located in the district of Nordfriesland in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, east of Sylt and Amrum, about 9 km from the mainland. Wyk is reached by ferry from Dagebüll and is conveniently connected by train (from Niebüll or Husum to Dagebüll Mole).
The Sandwall Music Pavilion
The Sandwall Music Pavilion is an open concert stage directly on the main promenade of Wyk auf Föhr — right by the beach, with benches in front and a clear view of the North Sea. This location is precisely what makes the concert series so special: it's not "just" music, but music with wind, seagull calls, and the sound of waves as a natural backdrop.
Three Concerts Daily
For years, the concert series has followed the same proven rhythm: in the morning from 11 AM to 12 PM, in the afternoon from 3 PM to 4 PM, and in the evening from 8 PM to 9 PM. Those vacationing on Föhr can therefore enjoy a short concert three times a day — daily from mid-May to the end of September. A true treasure trove for music lovers and a typical Föhr summer ritual.
Artists 2026
A total of 11 different acts will perform at the Sandwall in 2026, each for one to two weeks — from rock and pop to gala programs and a cappella, to Irish folk. The series opens with André Deininger from May 14 to May 25, and concludes with the gala band Swing OK from September 11 to September 20. Admission to all concerts is free.
