Open-Air for Rock, Punk, and Metal on the forest meadow
The Mühlbergfestival is one of the most traditional volunteer-organized open-airs in Lower Franconia. Since 1979, the association AktionJugendJohannesberg e.V. has hosted the festival in Johannesberg, in the district of Aschaffenburg, Bavaria. The venue is an idyllic forest meadow on the edge of town – the festival's "hammer location," known for its special atmosphere.
Over three days, the Mühlbergfestival offers a program of Rock, Punk, Metal, Indie, and Folk-Rock. Up-and-coming and established bands from the region and beyond perform on stage. Despite its manageable size of around 1,000 visitors, the festival has earned a solid reputation in the scene.
A culinary highlight is the legendary Sunday brunch with the famous Mühlbergklöße – a house specialty that is a firm ritual of the festival. The Family Sunday, with games, fun, and entertainment for young and old, rounds off the weekend and makes the festival attractive for families too.
Camping and motorhome pitches, vegetarian-vegan catering, fresh coffee, a cocktail and wine bar, reusable tableware, free ear protection, and first-aid services ensure a completely relaxed festival experience. The family-run festival emphasizes good vibes over big commercialism.
