Lower Rhine Autumn Festival in Moers City Centre
When the leaves turn yellow on the first Sunday in October and the days noticeably shorten, what the traditional Lower Rhine county town celebrates as Moerser Herbst begins. On Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the city centre around Homberger Straße and Neumarkt will transform into a packed programme of city festival, association presentations, show car exhibition, and live stage — combined with Sunday shopping by Moers retailers.
Homberger Straße: The Association Mile
Along Homberger Straße, one of Moers' central shopping streets, local associations present their activities: sports clubs, cultural initiatives, civic groups, carnival societies, heritage associations. A diverse selection that shows how rich the associational life of a city of 105,000 inhabitants in the Lower Rhine region truly is. Anyone wanting to get an impression of Moers' civil society will find it here — compact, likeable, open to conversation.
Neumarkt: Show Cars and Live Stage
At Neumarkt, two focal points emerge: a show car exhibition featuring tuned vehicles, vintage cars, and special models — an attraction for car enthusiasts and photo opportunities for family visits — as well as the live stage, which hosts performances throughout the day. The stage programme alternates between music, dance, and sports demonstrations — a stage that connects the association mile in the centre.
Sunday Shopping 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.
The shops in Moers city centre open their doors on October 4, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. — a Sunday shopping event that combines the city festival with shopping opportunities. This turns the Moerser Herbst into a full-day programme: association mile in the morning, strolling in the afternoon, stage and show cars in between.
Organiser and Tradition
The organiser is Moers Marketing GmbH, which organises two central city festivals under the dual format of "Moerser Frühling" (in spring) and "Moerser Herbst" (in autumn). Both formats have been part of the core of Moers' annual city routine for years and are established in the Lower Rhine region.
Moers — The County Town on the Lower Rhine
Moers is one of the medium-sized towns in the Lower Rhine region, located between Krefeld, Duisburg, and the Dutch border. With around 105,000 inhabitants and the historic old town around Moers Castle, the city has an independent identity — as the County of Moers, it was an Orange-Nassau possession for centuries, which is still reflected today in the architecture and Protestant character. The Moerser Herbst is one of the formats in which the city presents itself most strongly: local, diverse, well-organised.
