Wine village between the Renaissance courtyard and the lake shore in the Eulenspiegel town
The Möllner Wine Festival is one of Northern Europe's most traditional wine festivals—which is not a given, as Mölln is located in the Duchy of Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein, far from any wine-growing region. That's precisely the concept: in the north, far from the Rhine and Moselle, 100 wines, sparkling wines, brandies, and liqueurs are brought together for three days. In 2026, the festival celebrates its 28th edition—grown from an initiative of the town and the event agency Brötzmann.
The venue is the Stadthauptmannshof (Hauptstraße 150)—a historic Renaissance courtyard in Mölln's old town with low buildings, an inner courtyard, and brick walls. The area borders directly on the meadow by the Schulsee, one of the many lakes in the Lauenburg Nature Park landscape. This creates a wine village between old walls and the lake shore, which will be equipped with bistro tables, wooden benches, and fairy lights over the three days.
The selection is deliberately international:
Complemented by sparkling wines, champagne, brandies, and liqueurs from German and foreign distilleries.
Several gastronomy stands offer a suitable selection to accompany the tastings: cheese from regional and French dairies, tarte flambée from a wood-fired oven, grilled specialties, pretzels, antipasti. Live music accompanies the evenings on a small stage in the courtyard—mostly acoustic acts, occasionally jazz or regional bands.
Mölln is a town of around 19,000 inhabitants in the district of Herzogtum Lauenburg, in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is known as the Eulenspiegel town—the legendary jester Till Eulenspiegel is said to have been buried here in 1350; his gravestone stands at the St. Nicholas Church. The town is located in the middle of the Lauenburg Lake District and is the gateway to the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park.
As in previous years, the event agency Brötzmann compiles the exhibitors' selection—focusing on German wine regions (Rheinhessen, Kaiserstuhl) and international highlights (South Africa, Italy, France). The stage in the courtyard hosts acoustic live music in the evenings, with bands changing over the three days.
