As summer begins in Siegen, the square at the Unteres Schloss comes alive on Wednesdays: From June 17 to August 12, 2026, MittwochsIn brings nine Wednesday evenings of open-air concerts directly in front of the historic castle backdrop. The format has been established for years and costs the audience nothing — financing is handled through the so-called cup sales, meaning reusable cups for drinks with a surcharge that supports the festival. The organizer is Klar Events GmbH.

The 2026 program mixes cover bands, local acts, and touring professionals:

• June 24 — Take On Me (80s Covers)
• July 1 — Hörgerät (Rocking in German)
• July 8 — Open Sky meets MittwochsIn (Special collaboration with the Open Sky Festival)
• July 15 — Break (No concert, AOK company run in the city)
• July 22 — X-Chords (Cover mix Rock/Pop/NDW)
• July 29 — Wolle Pur (Schlager-Rock fusion)
• August 5 — Noisic (Hits and medleys)

Schedule at the Unteres Schloss Square

The evening follows a fixed rhythm: Doors open at 6 PM, concerts start at 7 PM. Background DJ sets play until the concert begins, and the audience can get drinks and food from stands. Concerts usually end around 10 PM — followed by after-music. The stage is placed directly at the castle, creating an extraordinary urban atmosphere.

The city center lies at the foot of the Oberes and Unteres Schloss — and MittwochsIn uses this topographical feature as its backdrop.
