875 Years of Wahlstedt Celebrates its Middle Ages
Wahlstedt is a small town in the Boostedt-Rickling office in the Segeberg district, in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. In 2026, the town with around 9,400 inhabitants will celebrate its 875th anniversary. A highlight of the festivities: the grand medieval festival on the Schützenplatz.

Schlangenschrein Events
The organizer is Schlangenschrein Events, a well-established medieval market organizer in Northern Germany with numerous venues between Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Lower Saxony. The Wahlstedt edition is planned as an annual event.
Wahlstedt — Small town with a long history
The town is conveniently located on the B205 between Bad Segeberg and Neumünster, surrounded by forests and lakes. With its first mention in 1151, Wahlstedt's history reaches far back into the High Middle Ages — reason enough for a medieval festival with historical connections.

On July 4 and 5, 2026, the Wahlstedt Schützenplatz will be transformed into a historical festival ground. The occasion is the town's 875th anniversary — Wahlstedt celebrates with a grand medieval spectacle, organized by Schlangenschrein Events.
At the festival grounds at Scharnhorststraße 49, visitors can expect a colorful market with traders and craftspeople, demonstrations of historical combat techniques and archery, jester performances, and a wide culinary selection from suckling pig to mead.
