Wine enjoyment and Italian flair in Memmingen's Old Town
The Memminger Weinfest is one of the most charming late summer events in the Allgäu region. On the Hallhof in the middle of Memmingen's Old Town, vintners and merchants serve exquisite wines from various German growing regions, while regional chefs prepare Swabian and Allgäuer specialties.
The special feature of the Memminger Weinfest is its close connection with the Italian partner region: For several years now, Italian merchants from Abruzzo around the partner town of Teramo have set up their stalls on Manghausplatz in parallel. You can taste cheese, cured meats, olive oils, wine, and sweets there, while Italian live music fills the square.
The official opening is traditionally performed by the Mayor, the board of Stadtmarketing, and the reigning Memmingen Flower Queen. This integrates the wine festival into the cultural traditions of the former Free Imperial City.
Memmingen is located in the Unterallgäu district in the Bavarian administrative region of Swabia. The medieval Old Town with its market square and historic patrician houses provides the perfect setting for a festival that combines wine enjoyment, regional cuisine, and Mediterranean flair.
The 2026 edition of the Memminger Weinfest will be organized by Stadtmarketing Memmingen e.V. and once again brings wine culture and enjoyment to the Old Town. The exact schedule will be published by the organizer in the summer of 2026 on the official website.
While you pair Riesling, Spätburgunder, or Silvaner with regional delicacies at Hallhof, you can switch to Italian specialties at Manghausplatz – a concept that has proven successful for years.
Detailed times and the music program will be announced by Stadtmarketing Memmingen in good time at stadtmarketing-memmingen.de.
Free admission. Wines and food are paid for per consumption directly at the stalls.
Hallhof and Manghausplatz are located in Memmingen's pedestrian zone. Both locations are reachable on foot in about 10 minutes from Memmingen train station. Parking is available in the parking garages on the outskirts of the city.
Free admission. Only food and drinks at the stalls are paid for.
The Italian market on Manghausplatz opens on the Thursday before the actual wine festival, making it open longer than the wine festival itself.
