Advent Magic in a Historic Setting
The Memminger Christkindlesmarkt is one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the Bavarian Allgäu region. The venue is the market square in the heart of Memmingen's old town, framed by the magnificent town hall, the Großzunft, and the historic Steuerhaus. This complete historic backdrop makes the market an atmospheric place for contemplation during the pre-Christmas season.
Opening with Torchlight Procession
The festive start is marked by the opening by the Lord Mayor and the Christkind with a torchlight procession. On the same evening, the "Shopping in the Glow of Lights" event invites you for an evening stroll through the festively illuminated city center.
Around 30 Stalls and an Accompanying Program
Approximately 30 festively decorated stalls offer Christmas goods, handicrafts, as well as food and drinks. The accompanying program is particularly family-oriented:
- Entertainment by choirs and brass bands
- a Punch and Judy show for children
- St. Nicholas, who distributes small gifts on weekends
- the Christkind, who tells fairy tales on Saturday afternoons
- the heated "Memminger Himmelsstube" as a place for contemplation
Memmingen in the Allgäu
The former Free Imperial City of Memmingen is located in the Swabia administrative region on the edge of the Allgäu. With its well-preserved old town, guild houses, and representative town hall, it offers the ideal setting for a traditional Christkindlesmarkt that attracts visitors from all over the region.

The Memminger Christkindlesmarkt 2026 opens from November 27 to December 20 on Memmingen's market square. It will be opened on November 27 at 5:30 PM by the Lord Mayor and the Christkind with a torchlight procession; simultaneously, "Shopping in the Glow of Lights" invites you for an evening stroll.
Around 30 festively decorated stalls are grouped in front of the town hall, Großzunft, and Steuerhaus. Choirs and brass bands, a Punch and Judy show for children, St. Nicholas on weekends, the Christkind telling fairy tales on Saturday afternoons, and the heated Memminger Himmelsstube provide a contemplative Advent atmosphere.
