Mehna in the Altenburger Land

Mehna is a small municipality in the Rositz administrative district in the Altenburger Land district in the state of Thuringia, in the transitional area between the Thuringian Basin and the Saxon Vogtland. The community, with around 500 inhabitants, is characterized by agriculture; village life is concentrated around the fire department, sports club, and church community.

Summer Festival of the Village Community

The Children's and Summer Festival at the fire station is one of the central village festivals of the year. The volunteer fire department and several community clubs—sports club, church community, and carnival club—organize the festival together. The focus is on the village children: bouncy castles, game stations, face painting, ice cream truck, and small competitions characterize the afternoon.

Program and Atmosphere

The festival begins in the afternoon at the fire station. A classic summer festival program runs parallel for the adults: bratwurst and draft beer, coffee and cake in the afternoon, live music in the early evening, and cozy get-togethers in the village community. In good weather, the festival also attracts families from the neighboring communities of Rositz, Lödla, and Treben.
