North Germany's biggest Punk festival — two days of Punk, Ska, Rock in Stadtpark Norderstedt
Norderstedt is located in the Kreis Segeberg district in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, directly north of Hamburg, and with around 80,000 inhabitants, it is the fifth-largest city in the state. Stadtpark Norderstedt, with its lake, Waldbühne (forest stage), and Hangwiese, is one of the largest urban park areas in North Germany. It is precisely there, on the Hangwiese, that one of the most important Punk festivals in the North has been established since 2022.
Match Börner Open Air was founded in 2022 and celebrates its 5th anniversary in 2026 under the motto Level V. In this short time, it has become the largest Punk festival in North Germany — with over 7,000 visitors per festival day, the event operates at a level one would normally expect from established festivals, not from a five-year-old newcomer. The secret: uncompromising programming, a consistently curated concept, and short distances between bands and audience.
Match Börner stands for a style of Punk that oscillates between classic Ska and Skate-Punk tradition and newer Indie/Alternative currents. Bands like Slime represent the roots of the German Punk movement, ZSK represent political anti-fascist Punk, Royal Republic represent Swedish Rock crossover, and 100 Kilo Herz and Rantanplan represent the Ska-Punk tradition. The festival is explicitly positioned as anti-fascist and is perceived as a safe space within the scene.
Match Börner Open Air 2026 takes place from July 10 to 11 on the Hangwiese in Stadtpark Norderstedt, celebrating its fifth anniversary with the Level V edition. RADIO BOB! is the media partner; the festival is now North Germany's largest Punk festival with over 7,000 visitors per day.
A cross-genre program of Punk, Folk-Punk, Ska, Indie, and Rock featuring a total of 12 bands. Headliners are Royal Republic (Sweden) and ZSK; also performing are German Punk legends Slime, Adam Angst, Blackout Problems, 100 Kilo Herz, Rantanplan, Schmutzki, Tyna, Butterwegge, Elfmorgen, and Edelg!ft.
