Open-air concert at the Waldbühne in Stadtpark Norderstedt — Free admission
Norderstedt, with around 80,000 inhabitants, is the fifth-largest city in Schleswig-Holstein and is located in the Segeberg district north of Hamburg. The Stadtpark Norderstedt is one of the largest and most diverse park areas in Northern Germany — with the Stadtparksee (city park lake), the Hangwiese (sloping meadow), and the Waldbühne (forest stage) as central open-air venues. The Waldbühne, a stone amphitheater at the edge of the forest, offers an extraordinary acoustic and visual backdrop for concerts.
The Festival am See has been running since 2009 — the 18th edition in 2026 marks a small anniversary. What began as a small initiative by Music-Werkstatt e.V. is now one of the most important open-air formats in northern Germany, which has remained both free and musically ambitious — a rare combination in German festival operations.
The 18th edition explicitly focuses on female lead voices. Three acts with three different genre focuses:
The Festival am See has been free since its first edition — a conscious commitment to cultural participation. Donations are collected on-site and go to charitable causes. The organizers — Stadtpark Norderstedt GmbH together with Music-Werkstatt e.V. — finance the festival through sponsorship, municipal funds, and Music-Werkstatt's own resources.
The 18th edition of Festival am See will take place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, at the Waldbühne in Stadtpark Norderstedt. The festival is thus "coming of age," as the organizers themselves put it — 18 years of open-air with musical diversity and free admission.
The 2026 program explicitly focuses on female lead voices. Three acts with distinctly different sound worlds come from three countries.
Concert starts at 6:00 PM, ends at 10:00 PM. Seating and meadow spots freely selectable. Donations for charitable causes on-site.
