Crafts instead of mass-produced goods
The Lucrezia-Markt has been an integral part of Regensburg's Advent season since the mid-1980s. Unlike many other Christmas markets, it consistently sees itself as a pure craftsmen's market: exhibitors are not mass dealers, but artisans who have designed and produced their own works. The range includes ceramics, jewelry, and textiles, as well as woodwork, glass, felt, paper, printmaking, and fine arts.
Two squares, two atmospheres
The market extends over two of the Old Town's central squares: Kohlenmarkt and Haidplatz. Both locations are part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Regensburg and, with their narrow Gothic and Baroque buildings, create the market's unmistakable setting. The main stage is traditionally located on Haidplatz, while the stalls on Kohlenmarkt are spread out among the historic patrician houses.
Two stages and cultural program
A continuous cultural program runs on two stages, featuring everything from classical brass ensembles to folk music, singer-songwriters, performances, and readings. A separate program flyer is published each year at the start of the market and is also available online.
Sustainability as a program
The Lucrezia-Markt is managed sustainably. The catering is organic-certified, with vegan and vegetarian options consistently available, and reusable tableware is standard. This approach distinguishes the market from many traditional Christmas markets and makes it a popular destination for visitors seeking a quieter, aesthetically rich Christmas market.
