International Pop and Indie Festival at the Olympic Stadium
Lollapalooza was founded in Chicago in 1991 by Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction) and began expanding internationally from 2011. Berlin has been the first and only Lolla stop in the German-speaking world since 2015. Over the years, the festival has changed locations several times — from Tempelhof Airport Field to Treptower Park and Hoppegarten Racecourse — finally anchoring at the Olympic Stadium in Westend, where all editions have taken place since.
The setting makes Lollapalooza Berlin unique: the stadium designed by Werner March for the 1936 Olympic Games with the bell tower complex on the Maifeld. The Maifeld — a 112,000 m² lawn, once a Wehrmacht parade ground, now an open-air concert area — hosts the Main Stage, Perry's Stage, and Alternative Stage. The South Stage plays inside the stadium, and the T-Mobile Stage is on the so-called Hertha Plateau.
Unlike the rock festivals common in Germany (Wacken, Rock am Ring), Lolla targets a broad, younger audience: international pop headliners (in past editions, among others, Macklemore, Imagine Dragons, Sam Smith, Florence + The Machine), HipHop (Travis Scott, Pusha T, Cardi B), Indie Rock (The Killers, Tame Impala), and Electro (David Guetta, Calvin Harris). Plus local German headliners — the main stage isn't reserved for Americans alone.
What sets Lollapalooza apart from typical mega-festivals: a dedicated area called Kidzapalooza for children up to 11 years old, with DJ workshops, face painting stations, climbing courses, and an interactive stage. Parents can leave their children there and head to the main stage themselves. Next to it is Green Kiez, an area for NGOs and environmental initiatives with talks, workshops, and information — Lolla Berlin is Germany's first festival with international sustainability certification.
The festival is car-free. Arrive via S-Bahn (S5, S75) Olympiastadion or U-Bahn (U2) Olympiastadion. The Berlin public transport authority significantly increases service on festival weekends. Over 100,000 tickets are sold per day, so arrival planning is essential.
The date is confirmed: Lollapalooza Berlin 2026 will take place on July 18 and 19 on the Maifeld and within the Olympic Stadium area in Westend. Organizer Goodlive (in cooperation with Festival Republic, a subsidiary of Live Nation) sticks to the proven format: four to five stages, two festival days, a continuous program from early afternoon until after midnight.
The complete line-up will traditionally be revealed in several waves starting March 2026. Headliners are regularly international top acts from the Pop, Indie, and HipHop charts — recent editions featured acts like Imagine Dragons, Macklemore, Calvin Harris, Sam Smith, Florence + The Machine, and David Guetta on the Maifeld. German stars like Apache 207, Cro, or Annenmaykantereit complement the program.
The official line-up will be gradually released in spring 2026. Structurally, the festival traditionally spreads across:
Typically, 40–60 acts perform each day across the various stages. The exact performance times and stage allocations will be published approximately two weeks before the festival on lollapaloozade.com and in the festival app.
