Löbau Celebrates in the Upper Lusatia
Löbau, the 'Große Kreisstadt' (major district town) in the Görlitz district, has been a trading center of Upper Lusatia for centuries and home to the famous cast-iron observation tower (König-Friedrich-August-Turm). During the Löbauer Stadtfest, the historic city center is transformed into a continuous festival mile once a year — from the Altmarkt with the main stage, along Innere Bautzner Straße, to the side streets.
Main Stage at the Altmarkt
Regional artists alternate with national guests on the central stage at the Altmarkt. Choirs, dance groups, cover bands, and solo artists from all over Upper Lusatia share the program — deliberately broad to ensure every generation finds its favorite moment. In addition, walk acts move through the city center: stilt walkers, musicians, and animation teams provide surprises among the stalls.
Anniversary Year 2026
2026 marks ten years since Löbau hosted the Saxon State Garden Show. This memory shapes the Stadtfest: many program items pick up on the garden show spirit — from flower-adorned stages to themed tours. The festival thus becomes an opportunity to experience the city center's transformation over the past decade.
Gastronomy and Rides
Throughout the festival grounds, visitors will find food stalls with regional Upper Lusatian specialties, coffee, cake, and street food. Rides for children and adults complement the program. The city center is largely closed to car traffic during the festival — ideal for strolling between the stage, market, and food stalls.
