Advent in Changing Locations

The Living Advent Calendar Biestow transfers the idea of the classic Advent calendar into the life of the district. Instead of paper doors, real doors open every day from December 1st to 23rd at different locations in the district. Behind each door, a short Advent encounter awaits, accompanying the neighborhood through the pre-Christmas period.

Hosts from the District

The special feature of this format is its openness: private individuals, groups, school classes, companies, and associations can take over a day. They invite you in the afternoon or evening for a maximum of 20 minutes to an Advent program in front of their doorstep. This way, the Advent calendar is created by the neighborhood itself and reflects the diversity of people in Biestow.

Singing, Stories, and Blessings

The content of the individual stations is individual. It usually includes singing together, stories or poems, and a prayer or blessing. With the Living Advent Calendar, the Evangelical Lutheran Church Community of Biestow aims to bring people together through joint singing, images, and lights, and to prepare them spiritually for Christmas.

Biestow in the South of Rostock

Biestow is a village-like district in the south of the Hanseatic city of Rostock, the largest city in the Rostock district and in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. With its village pond and old church, the district retains a rural character, which gives the Living Advent Calendar a particularly cozy atmosphere.

Participate and Encounter

Anyone who wants to host a station should contact the church community. Information about which offer takes place on which day and at which address will be published on the church community's website from the end of November. This way, the Advent calendar can be followed day by day.
